From the Capalbio area on the southern part of the Tuscan Coast, the 2015 Montalzato is blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. The wine opens to moderate intensity and an easygoing, food-friendly style. The wine shows bright berry fruit with earthy tones and mild spice. It ages in neutral French oak for eight months.

Soil: Medium soil, gentle slope. Presence of stone (galestro).

Harvest: Hand harvesting.
Wine making process: The grapes undergo a pre-ferment maceration at 8°C for two days; alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, temperature controlled.
Wine making process: 15 days.
Malolactic fermentation: Processed in cement.
Ageing: 8 months in french barrels and tonneau (3rd and 4th shift), then 3 months in bottle.
